Remember on the second day of the 2012 NFL draft when the ‘Skins drafted Kirk Cousins, and analysts on every network collectively lost their shit? I was on record saying I didn’t care for the pick because of other team needs, but some others took it a bit farther than that.
ESPN’s resident whack job Skip Bayless went as far as saying that the Redskins were racist for making the selection, arguing that they were intentionally demoralizing Robert Griffin III. Yes, they were doing everything they could to sabotage the player they traded four draft picks for and selected #2 overall. This would have been like my five year old self saving his allowance every week for an entire year to get a Nintendo, and then promptly setting it on fire.
This apparent “controversy” was a talking point on every piece of football related programming I could find. And yet, where are we today? Crickets. The media will never be able to get enough of quarterback controversies, and yet still…nothing. Not even a hint of it. I just googled “Kirk Cousins Redskins” and this was the most scandalous article I could find. Allow me to briefly recap the article for you:
Rex Grossman: Man, I wish I had any chance of starting.
Kirk Cousins: Yeah, that’d be cool. Let’s go get our own catchy nicknames!
All signs, from day one, pointed to RG3 being “the guy” barring injury, and that’s exactly what is taking shape. So in summary: common sense 1, screaming senile Ron Jaworski…0.

And as soon as I write this that very day RG3 struggles and Cousins goes off haha. You’re welcome Robert!
