At the conclusion of last night’s game I was talking to fellow Footbawl blogger Christopher Dorsey, and we both had the same basic thought.
“I want to write something about this, but I have no idea what.”
After all, the entire internet was chiming in and there didn’t seem to be much else to say. Look, I’m a huge Packer fan so obviously everyone knows where I stand on this. I won’t go as far as to say it was the worst call I’ve ever seen because I hate using terms like that, but I will put it this way…I got texts from both Bears and Lions fans who were infuriated by the call. Do you know what kind of debacle it takes for fans of division rivals in the NFL to make such a gesture?
Anyway, if you want to hear the rule in question explained over and over again turn on ESPN or the NFL Network, but if you want to read some of my favorite tweets about the controversial ending…here you go!
@Alpha1906 – BREAKING JaMarcus Russell eyeing return to NFL after discovering games can be won by throwing interceptions.
@TJLang70 – Fuck it NFL…fine me and use my money to pay the regular refs
(Note: please go to Lang’s feed, he has several more)
@Auguste – NFL tweeting “TD or INT” is like the Catholic Church burning a heretic and then asking the congregation whether the world is round or not.
@Sportsguy33 – Mike McCarthy should have ran back on the field naked from the waist down
@JimRome – Jennings could have returned that pick 108 yards for a t.d, and the replacement refs would have still said Tate came down with it.
@jcgreenx – Hey, remember that out there a replacement ref has a child. And that kid hates his dad.
@cynicjrh – Roger Goodell has to bring the refs back. Patriot and Packer fans are angry, and that’s his biggest demographic: fat white people.
@JordanBernfield – If this call would have happened in a #WhiteSox game, Hawk would have plunged out of the booth
@GilbertBrown – OMG!!! Them ref’s sucks… Bbq bull#%$#… Shame on u owners don’t dis the best game in the world over money!!! WOW!!!
@oshuaj – I have no idea what Gilbert Brown just said but I love it
@thefootbawlblog – Steve Young and I should hold each other, wrapped in an NFL logo blanket
(yeah, one of my tweets is allowed to make the list)
@MikeTanier – Woman just entered the coffee shop holding her baby. I patted the baby on the head. A replacement official just awarded me custody.
